So a song for the weekend by The Weeknd. So much attitude in this track, perfect for a Friday night… I usually tell friends that The Weeknd is like indie R&B/Pop but with a mainstream appeal. Along the vein of Drake… enjoy House of Balloons…

After seeing Jeremiah Johnson I’m now on a Western/Action/Drama-from-the-70′s movie kick. Tonight I saw the film The Outlaw Josey Wales and I was blown away by not only how great of a film this was, but the cinematography blew me away. Such a wonderfully shot film for a) the time period b) the style of movie and c) for having to shoot on location in constant harsh sunlight. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though as this was directed and was starring… Clint Eastwood.
I love new music, but seriously I have way too much new music I’m listening to and too much can be a really bad thing because you stop appreciating it. It’s like the feeling I had when I first saw a Tumblr or photo blog, just endless amounts of amazing photographs, one after another, and you are just mindlessly cruising through the photos without thinking of their individuality and enjoying them as single pieces of art.
Well regardless, listen to Destroyer, below is the title track Kaputt…
Sleepy vocals sung over a sample from Jon Brion’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Memoryhouse’s Lately is perfect for chillin in the wee hours… listen below:

Smooth jams… love this, check this tune by Inc., “Swear”. The organ kills on this track and as a Prince fan it’s hard to ignore the similarity but this music is pretty refreshing. A nice jam for a chill Saturday evening.
This is nothing new, but recently the film Jeremiah Johnson was playing on AMC. I was probably 12 the last time I saw this and then I really didn’t get what was going on… but seeing this again I absolutely loved it. Random I know, but I love watching the adventure unfold of a man making it on his on in the wild and making friends and enemies with the natives and locals. Take a break from life and from technology and enjoy this classic…
Here’s a pretty sweet collection of black and white stills on the set of filming …

Shhhhhhh… this is my new favorite band that not a lot of people know about…

Super chill and as the title suggests peaceful solo piano piece by Bill Evans. So nice to put this on to relax. For some reason it reminds me of my childhood. Maybe because it has that solo jazz feeling of the piano in Mr. Rogers, I think it was the ending song “Good Feeling”? Always comforting.
I first heard Peace Piece in the movie Jack Goes Boating with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Ryan. Really great movie, pretty depressing, quirky, happy and just… very real all at the same time. I recommend it.
